Hey guys, we’re back! We spend some time talking about movies and Xmas and more, check it!
First off, we finally watched Tucker and Dale vs. Evil as per the recommendation of one of our listeners. (If you are that listener, please let us know, we can’t remember who told us to watch it.) If you have no idea what we’re talking about, here’s the trailer:
Texts continue to be a difficulty for us, though our spouses seem to be patient enough to put up with us. Matt found out advertising chili and beer makes a party in mere hours, and we discuss the finer points of hiding beer bottles at friends houses.
We revisit the Xmas topics, family, Santa and religion as expected. We solve nothing, as expected, but promise to address it again later.
Lastly, we wish everyone that listens a happy holiday and safe journey to their destination, whatever it might be. See you next week.

About the Irish cream: a few years ago I picked up a bottle of Brady’s to mix in a recipe because it was cheap. I was really surprised when I tried it straight and found out how good it is, it’s got a really nice caramel tone which is very tasty. Everyone oohs and ahhs over Bailey’s but I think it’s overrated; not that it’s bad, but I think they charge more simply because they can, due to the rep of their name. Brady’s is the only brand I buy now, the fact that it’s inexpensive is merely a bonus.
I’ve actually discovered that my favorite Irish cream is Bushmill’s Irish Cream. I can’t really say if it’s more or less expensive than Bailey’s, because I’ve seen both. However, in my opinion, there is no contest when it comes to flavor.
We have a former friend’s “secret” recipe for homemade Irish cream that we share whenever we can just to be pissy. interested?
I am! Maybe I could tweek it with some almond milk and have non-dairy irish cream.
Homemade Irish Cream
3 eggs
2 tablespoons Hersey’s syrup
1 pint Coffee Rich
Blend for three minutes
1 can sweetened condensed milk
8-10 oz Irish whiskey
1 heaping teaspoon instant coffee
1 dash vanilla or almond flavoring
Blend 7 minutes
makes 1 to 1.5 quarts Don’t know how critical the blending times are.
1) I can use sweetened Vanilla almond milk, and hit all the high points.
2) This recipe further proves the “put an egg on that” theory.
A couple of nights ago, Beth and I watched “The Ref” and “While You Were Sleeping” which are both great Xmas movies. The Ref is the more biting and satirical film but firmly in the holiday movie vein. While You Were Sleeping is a very cute romantic comedy that just happens to be set at the holidays but that’s the right time to watch it. They happened to be released about a year or so apart in the nineties and they both have Glynis Johns in supporting roles, who is awesome. She played the mom in Mary Poppins back in the sixties.
Xmas music! I have a few to point out.
I’m not sure if either of you like this sort of thing, but this is a gorgeous choral arrangement of a traditional Irish carol which is not very well known:
The Bobs are an a capella group that mostly does comedy music, but this is a very sweet and sentimental tune they did at the end of an Xmas album they did several years ago:
And in the political/humorous direction, here’s one of many Xmas/holiday related songs by Roy Zimmerman. He’s the guy who wrote the song Salsa and I recorded for the November show (which Matt still needs to upload!):
Boo! It didn’t embed the videos! Here are the actual links.

I am actually very familiar with the Wexford Carol, owing partly to my mother being a music teacher, and I love it. I like chorale pieces in general. Again, what I don’t like are “jingles”.

Wait… wasn’t Bill in this predicament because he already lost his housekeys??
24 divided by 3 is… seven with a remainder of three??
I like this guy.
Every time you’re on the podcast I listen closely, hoping for a nipslip.
Geebus. 33 minutes in, and slurring is already taking place
36:00 and Jena’s making that noise I love so well…
I’ve linked to my Doppleganger’s website…
