This week we discuss the last weekend of RenFest (in which Matt lost his voice), and our favorite seasons. (Oktoberfest may rank unusually high) We also discuss taking siestas and having a long lunch. Finally, we discuss the merits of dumpster diving. As you might imagine, we’re for it. This month’s drink is Oktoberfest Beer, in whatever variety we can find. This week we sampled the Paulaner Oktoberfest Wiesn, which came with a sweet stein, see below:

Addendum: We went down the street for the bowling ball, but it was already gone. Matt’s a dumbass. That is all.
Speaking of the closing gate fire show; Thanks for letting Luis and I be a part of it. We were grinning like idiots the whole time.
A friend who is an associate professor at a small private college said at the end of spring semester is a great time to dive college dumpsters as students throw out a bunch of things they don’t want or have room in their cars to bring home. He acquired a small stereo for his lab this spring.
You mentioned thrift stores, we also periodically bargain hunt at pawn shops. Years ago I acquired a 500mm lens for my old Pentax SLR camera at a pawn shop.
Just got a handwritten note of thanks that I wasn’t expecting from you guys. Seriously awesome, keep up the great work.
Matt’s comments about the cold reminds me of my wife. She too doesn’t handle the cold well (and we live in Saskatchewan, so you MN fuckers have nothing on us!) and doesn’t handle the heat well either. She works well in a about a 15 degree range around 70 degrees F.
Sweet, the thing showed up! (was only 90% sure I got the right address)
The donation was seriously appreciated. Thanks again.
I feel like a comfort zone of 15 degrees around 70 degrees is setting yourself up for a lot of disappointment. Then again, I’m nearly in the same boat.
No problem. Now you see why we play with fire all day. There’s something exhilarating about it.
Oh, it showed up, all right. And surprised the hell out of us.
Seriously, thank you.
The only problem with colleges at the end of the semester is: it’s stuff that college kids have thrown away. It tends to be stuff that they found in a dumpster in the first place, and generally isn’t in the best shape. That’s been my experience, anyway. That having been said, you never know where you’ll find a gem. Good suggestion.
No doubt! Time to continue the poi lessons from Kelly Jo.
It prolly helps that he teaches at a more expensive private college so there’s a higher percentage of students with money…
I had this very beer in October, and it was about 14 dollars…But I’m in Canada, I indeed enjoyed the 3 beer equivalent can. The mug is great, and I have brought it to a couple places and asked for Just One Beer *Present Mug*, and let hilarity ensue!
Great choice, and I am glad I had the foresight to buy it. Wish I would have got one or 2 more.
