So . . . holy shit Matt is drunk for this show. He and Jena just finished the Fearless/Rockstar Storytellers crossover before recording. The gang also talks about Matt’s recent trip to Disney World and Jena’s son hitting the dating scene. There’s prolly more, but I can’t remember it.
Caramel does not need to be made with milk/cream. Any of the usual milk substitutes (soy, almond, rice, or whatever milk) should work just fine in most caramel sauce recipes. Also, a clear caramel can be made using water instead of the milk/cream (in about a 2:1 ratio of milk/cream to water. The recipe I have has 3 oz water replacing 6 oz cram in the base recipe).
Granted it doesn’t help if it’s made by someone else and you probably already knew, but I had to post anyway.
Also, I have so many ideas for pies in my head right now. I think I may need to try them out over the next year and send off the recipes. Too bad I don’t live in the area and can’t attend myself.
My recommendation: Start your own pi(e) day party!

It was the gustatory highlight of the year when consumed with Salsa’s Chocolate Hazelnut stout.
Salsa’s party was awesome. Fortunately I consumed pies in thin slices, so I enjoyed a lot of variety. And despite the fact that I brought a store-bought pasty, it was made at Everett’s at 42nd and Cedar, it was pretty damned good actually.
Criminy I’m finally wrapping this episode, and Matt is SO drunk. The other two aren’t all to sober either.

Don’t worry Salsa, I larped for a few years myself (1997-2002, give or take). I played a Malkavian and a Glasswalker back then, and I had fun. It got me out of the house, and I met some people that are to this day quite important to me.
