The other last birthday to celebrate is 26 -after which men are no longer subject to the draft if it were to be brought back. I was in college in 1980 when Congress re-instated the requirement that men had to register with the Selective Service System. Had a friend who filled his card out, but wrote “conscientious objector” all over the empty spaces.
